Having helped secure the Socceroos place in the FIFA World Cup finals with a heart stopping penalty shootout save, goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne departs for Doha as a proud CUPRA Formentor driver.
In June, the Sydney FC number one captivated the football world with not only his decisive save in the penalty shootout against Peru, but the bodily contortions that preceded this and each preceding kick.
Instantly nicknamed the “Grey Wiggle” for his monochrome keeper’s kit, Redmayne has been named in a 26 strong Socceroos squad bound for the finals in Qatar.
CUPRA is the automotive partner of the Subway Socceroos and the CommBank Matildas. In its home city, CUPRA partners with FC Barcelona, personally sponsoring Marc ter Stegen and Ansu Fati.
“We welcome Andrew to the CUPRA Tribe,” CUPRA Australia Director Ben Wilks said.
“There’s the obvious synergy with CUPRA’s existing football associations, but more importantly for us Andrew is an outstanding individual; a great athlete and an unassuming guy; an instant celebrity and a grounded family man.
“We’re proud that he’s representing CUPRA and driving our hero car, the Formentor VZx.”
Andrew Redmayne’s determination to succeed – following several career challenges – is one of the many values shared with CUPRA. Likewise his pursuit of performance and progressive attitude.
After jumping behind the wheel of his new, 228kW all-wheel drive crossover, Andrew Redmayne said: “It really excites me to be part of a brand with such high ambitions and fast growth rate.”
“CUPRA and football are set for a massive boom in Australia, and I am really looking forward to being part the CUPRA Tribe in this exciting moment for the sport.
“The CUPRA Formentor ignites you behind the wheel; you feel at one with the car when driving it. Seeing the power and the passion that’s been put into is something really special”.
